What exactly will we do during the private barista workshop?

During our private barista workshop at home, we use a clear and proven structure. This way, you know exactly what you'll learn and what you'll take home with you .

You can choose from one or all components. This is clearly shown in the quote.

1. Short theory – better understanding what you buy, taste and prepare

We start with a concise explanation that will help you make better choices about coffee beans and settings.

You will learn, among other things:

  • Where coffee comes from and how provenance influences taste
  • The difference between light, medium and dark roast
  • How Roast and Freshness Affect Espresso
  • Which coffee beans suit your taste preference

No long theory, but just enough to make more conscious choices when buying and using coffee.

2. Practice – mastering espresso

Then we will start working extensively on making espresso.

You will learn:

  • How a good espresso is made
  • What goes wrong when an espresso runs too fast or too slow
  • Which parameters really make a difference (grinding degree, dosage, flow time)
  • How to recognize and correct your settings

The goal is for you to understand why an espresso succeeds or fails β€” and how to fix it yourself.

You will learn:

  • Which milk froths best
  • How to make microfoam without big bubbles
  • How to check milk temperature and structure

  • Do you understand how to adjust your settings?
  • Do you know what to look for in coffee beans?
  • Do you have concrete tools to consistently make better coffee at home?

Frequently Asked Questions

Koffie wordt gelijkmatig getampt tijdens een Sage Dual Boiler privΓ© barista workshop aan huis, met aandacht voor techniek en espresso consistentie.

Is this workshop suitable if I have just purchased an espresso machine?

Yes, definitely. Especially when you are just starting out, a workshop is valuable. You will learn directly how to use your machine properly, so that you can achieve results faster and make coffee with more confidence. But even if you have had an espresso machine for a while, a training can be surprisingly educational. I regularly meet coffee lovers who have been making coffee for years, but still notice that there is more to get out of their machine. With a few practical tips, your coffee will suddenly taste really good again.

Will the workshop be tailored to my level and equipment?

Yes, always. Whether you are just starting to make coffee or have been making espresso for years, the workshop is tailored to your needs. We work with your own machine and grinder, at your own pace. No standard story, but advice and explanation that fit your experience, your questions and your coffee goals.

Do I need a separate coffee grinder for this workshop?

Not necessarily. We'll work with what you already have. Do you have a built-in grinder or a separate one? That's fine. Do you make coffee with pre-ground beans? Then we'll figure out how to get the most out of them. It is recommended to use a bean grinder to get your espresso extraction right.

Can I also learn how to froth milk and make basic latte art?

Definitely. During the workshop you will learn how to froth milk with the right temperature and structure β€” without big bubbles, just as it should be for cappuccinos and latte art. If you are interested, we will also practice pouring and you will get tips for your first heart or rosette.

How long does the home workshop last?

The workshop lasts an hour and a half. That's enough time to work together on your focus point, whether that's making espresso and adjusting the coffee grinder, frothing milk, or a specific point of interest, without it becoming overwhelming.

Of course, we will tailor the pace and format to your experience and interests β€” it's your time.

Is the workshop intended for one person or can I participate with someone else?

You can easily take the workshop alone or with a partner. Whether you prefer a one-on-one session or want to learn with others, such as your partner, colleagues, or friends, I ensure everyone actively participates and learns at their own level. When booking, please let me know how many people you'll be with, and I'll adjust the format and quote accordingly.

Sage Espresso Machine Help - Espresso Course at Home

Sage espresso machine help | Espresso course at home | Barista workshop at home

New to the Sage, but still struggling to make consistent espressos or froth your milk beautifully? This private, in-home barista workshop will teach you step-by-step how to use your Barista optimally. From setting the integrated grinder to finding the perfect recipe for your favorite coffee drink. You'll receive one-on-one guidance at home , fully tailored to your needs, questions, and coffee style. Trainer: Geertjandebaristaman, barista trainer and coffee coach with ten years of specialty coffee and workshop experience.

Why this workshop?

The Sage espresso machine is an all-in-one machine with an integrated conical bean grinder, 54 mm portafilter, and a combination of fully automatic and manual functions that give you control from bean to cup.
In practice, it turns out that many users know the machine is powerful, but struggle with how to use it consistently: the correct grind size, dose, tamping, extraction time, and milk texture. This workshop bridges that gapβ€”in your own kitchen, on your machine.
Trainer Geertjandebaristaman brings with him ten years of experience in specialty coffee and knows exactly what home baristas face.

What do you learn?

The session lasts approximately 2 hours , at your home, on your machine. The content is tailored to your starting level and your specific machine settings.

Theory

  • Which flavor profile comes from which region, and how does that influence your bean choice?
  • What does roasting, freshness, and grind size do to flavor and extraction?
  • How does the Sage integrated grinder work (grind settings, dose, static buildup)?
  • Why is extraction temperature and pressure so important for a good espresso?

Practice (on your machine)

  • Step by step: how to set the grinder, dose, tamp and start the extraction.
  • What if the espresso brews too quickly or too slowly? Which parameters can you adjust (grind size, dose, extraction time)?
  • Frothing milk: How do you get microfoam without large bubbles? How do you learn the correct pouring technique for cappuccino or latte art?
  • Maintenance & Care: How do you keep your machine and grinder clean so you can consistently produce quality?

Who is this workshop for?

  • For you if you have a Sage at home or have just purchased one and really want to learn how to get the most out of it.
  • For the home barista who wants to go from β€œnice” coffee to β€œgreat” coffee.
  • For those who want to make cappuccinos, flat whites or latte art for friends, family or just for themselves β€” and want to know how to use the machine in practice.

  • Personal one-on-one coaching from Geertjandebaristaman β€” tailored to your level, your questions, and your goals.
  • You learn in your familiar environment; you're immediately familiar with your machine, and you don't have to travel.
  • Afterwards you can immediately practice independently because you have learned on your setup .
