- How Roast and Freshness Affect Espresso
- Which coffee beans suit your taste preference
No long theory, but just enough to make more conscious choices when buying and using coffee.

- How a good espresso is made
- What goes wrong when an espresso runs too fast or too slow
- Which parameters really make a difference (grinding degree, dosage, flow time)
- How to recognize and correct your settings
The goal is for you to understand why an espresso succeeds or fails β and how to fix it yourself.

If milk drinks are part of your coffee moment, we will pay specific attention to this.
You will learn:
- Which milk froths best
- How to make microfoam without big bubbles

- Do you have concrete tools to consistently make better coffee at home?

You're the best!!

Aanrader!

I received this latte art course as a gift, after months of trying to improve the art in our morning coffees and chai lattes. Iβd made some progress on my own, but I was still inconsistent and felt I was missing some core principles.
GeertJan was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. After I explained my situation, he first checked my milk-steaming technique β which, thanks to practice, was already decent β but he immediately gave me one invaluable tip: start introducing air while the milk is still cold, then lower the steam wand to finish heating. This simple correction makes a huge difference; if you add air once the milk is warmer than body temperature, the bubbles are tougher and wonβt pop when you knock the jug.
After that, we focused on my pouring technique, where I had a lot more room to grow. We started with a basic heart and then moved on. I made a lot of coffees during the lesson, and the principles finally βclickedβ in my mind. The session was incredibly helpful and gave me a framework to evaluate my results and know exactly how to adjust. On top of that, I had a lovely chat with GeertJan β lots of laughs and a great atmosphere.
One thing worth mentioning: I had to unlearn some old habits. Like when Tiger Woods rebuilt his golf swing, it takes time to replace ingrained patterns β especially when youβre only practicing once a day at home. It took me a couple of months to fully adjust, but the results are absolutely worth it. My latte art is now much more consistent with both soy and oat milk, and Iβve moved beyond simple hearts to flowers, layered designs, and more. Once the basics were properly reset, progress became much faster.
Overall, this course is an excellent investment if you want to refine your fundamental techniques and accelerate your latte art skills. I highly recommend it.
It was a great class! Every step of the coffee-making process (from choosing the beans to creating latte art) was explained in detail. We then practiced both espresso making and latte art. The instructor was extremely helpful and informative at every stage. Iβm definitely going home with lots of useful knowledge, and Iβd highly recommend it!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this workshop suitable if I have just purchased an espresso machine?
Yes, definitely. Especially when you are just starting out, a workshop is valuable. You will learn directly how to use your machine properly, so that you can achieve results faster and make coffee with more confidence. But even if you have had an espresso machine for a while, a training can be surprisingly educational. I regularly meet coffee lovers who have been making coffee for years, but still notice that there is more to get out of their machine. With a few practical tips, your coffee will suddenly taste really good again.
Will the workshop be tailored to my level and equipment?
Yes, always. Whether you are just starting to make coffee or have been making espresso for years, the workshop is tailored to your needs. We work with your own machine and grinder, at your own pace. No standard story, but advice and explanation that fit your experience, your questions and your coffee goals.
Do I need a separate coffee grinder for this workshop?
Not necessarily. We'll work with what you already have. Do you have a built-in grinder or a separate one? That's fine. Do you make coffee with pre-ground beans? Then we'll figure out how to get the most out of them. It is recommended to use a bean grinder to get your espresso extraction right.
Can I also learn how to froth milk and make basic latte art?
Definitely. During the workshop you will learn how to froth milk with the right temperature and structure β without big bubbles, just as it should be for cappuccinos and latte art. If you are interested, we will also practice pouring and you will get tips for your first heart or rosette.
How long does the home workshop last?
The workshop lasts an hour and a half. That's enough time to work together on your focus point, whether that's making espresso and adjusting the coffee grinder, frothing milk, or a specific point of interest, without it becoming overwhelming.
Of course, we will tailor the pace and format to your experience and interests β it's your time.
Is the workshop intended for one person or can I participate with someone else?
You can easily take the workshop alone or with a partner. Whether you prefer a one-on-one session or want to learn with others, such as your partner, colleagues, or friends, I ensure everyone actively participates and learns at their own level. When booking, please let me know how many people you'll be with, and I'll adjust the format and quote accordingly.
