Aficionado is a powerful espresso blend of whole Arabica coffee beans from Indonesia (Sumatra), India, and Costa Rica. The dark roast produces an intense and complex coffee with a syrupy, full body, notes of dark chocolate, and a subtly sweet aftertaste. Suitable for espresso, ristretto, americano, cappuccino, latte, and iced coffee.

Practical starting recipe for espresso

Use the weight in your cup as the first reference point:

  • 16 grams of coffee: start with 32 grams of espresso at a 1:2 ratio
  • 18 grams of coffee: start with 36 grams of espresso at a 1:2 ratio
  • Target time: approximately 25–30 seconds

Aficionado often performs well around 28–30 seconds. If you reach the desired weight too quickly, grind finer. If it takes longer than about 30 seconds, grind coarser.

For a larger beverage base (1:3 ratio), you can experiment with extracting towards 48 grams from 16 grams of coffee or 54 grams from 18 grams of coffee. Always taste to ensure the espresso retains sufficient body and does not become too bitter.
