It was a great class! Every step of the coffee-making process (from choosing the beans to creating latte art) was explained in detail. We then practiced both espresso making and latte art. The instructor was extremely helpful and informative at every stage. I’m definitely going home with lots of useful knowledge, and I’d highly recommend it!
What are we going to do?
Whether you have an ECM, Rancilio, QuickMill, Sage, or another espresso machine at home, the foundation of good coffee remains the same: hot water is forced through ground coffee. With the right knowledge of this process, you'll learn to make truly high-quality cappuccinos or black coffee.
Although each barista workshop is adapted to the needs of the participant, we always see a certain structure
Theory:
- where does coffee come from?
- Which flavour profiles grow in which countries?
- How is coffee harvested?
- What does roasting coffee do to its taste?
- What tips can I use to buy coffee beans that suit my taste?
Practice:
- How do I make a good espresso?
- What happens if the espresso does not come out of the machine properly?
- Which parameters help me to make consistently good espresso?
- Which milk froths best?
- How do I froth milk without many or no bubbles at all?
- How do I pour the milk to make latte art?
This basic knowledge is tackled during the barista workshop at home. Nice and practical, nice coffee!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this workshop suitable if I have just purchased an espresso machine?
Yes, definitely. Especially when you are just starting out, a workshop is valuable. You will learn directly how to use your machine properly, so that you can achieve results faster and make coffee with more confidence. But even if you have had an espresso machine for a while, a training can be surprisingly educational. I regularly meet coffee lovers who have been making coffee for years, but still notice that there is more to get out of their machine. With a few practical tips, your coffee will suddenly taste really good again.
Do I need a separate coffee grinder for this workshop?
Not necessarily. We work with what you already have. Do you have a built-in grinder or a separate one? Fine. Do you make coffee with pre-ground beans? Then we will look at how you can get the most out of it. Do you not have a grinder yet, but are you thinking about buying one? Then I will give you honest and brand-independent advice during the workshop — tailored to your situation and budget.
Will the workshop be tailored to my level and equipment?
Yes, always. Whether you are just starting to make coffee or have been making espresso for years, the workshop is tailored to your needs. We work with your own machine and grinder, at your own pace. No standard story, but advice and explanation that fit your experience, your questions and your coffee goals.
Can I also learn how to froth milk and make basic latte art?
Definitely. During the workshop you will learn how to froth milk with the right temperature and structure — without big bubbles, just as it should be for cappuccinos and latte art. If you are interested, we will also practice pouring and you will get tips for your first heart or rosette.
Do we also discuss choosing the right coffee beans?
Yes. We discuss which flavor profiles exist, which type of beans match them, how to recognize what is on a package and what to look for when buying tasty and fresh beans. Whether you use filter, single origin or a blend — you will receive honest, brand-independent advice that suits your machine and your taste.
How long does the home workshop last?
The workshop lasts an hour and a half. That's enough time to work together on your focus point, whether that's making espresso and adjusting the coffee grinder, frothing milk, or a specific point of interest, without it becoming overwhelming.
Of course, we will tailor the pace and format to your experience and interests — it's your time.
Is the workshop intended for one person or can I participate with someone else?
You can easily follow the workshop together. Whether you come with your partner, colleague or friend — I make sure that everyone actively participates and learns at his or her level. When booking, let me know how many people you are with, then I will adjust the set-up and the quote accordingly.
Will I also receive a summary or advice by email afterwards?
Yes. After the workshop you will receive a short summary with the most important tips and advice that we discussed. This way you can read everything back at home and immediately continue practicing with what you have learned.
Until when can I cancel or reschedule a workshop?
You can reschedule a workshop up to 48 hours in advance free of charge after payment. In case of cancellation within 24 hours, the costs will unfortunately be charged in full. Rescheduling is always possible in consultation - I am happy to think along with you if something comes up.
How does payment for the workshop work?
If you are curious and contact me, you will receive all the information about the workshop, available times and a customized quote. This quote is based on the address where the workshop is given. After approval, you will receive an invoice, which must be credited to the account number stated on the invoice no later than one week before the planned date. As soon as everything has been arranged, I will make sure that I am present at the agreed address on time. Are you unexpectedly ill or does something come up? No worries — we will simply schedule a new date.
Do I need to prepare anything before you come over?
Not much. Make sure your espresso machine, coffee grinder (if you have one) and possibly milk and beans are ready. It would be nice if we could get started right away during the workshop. Do you have specific questions or things you run into? Then you can write them down in advance — then I will definitely take them with me.
Geert-Jan came to my house to teach me and a few friends the ins and outs of latte art. He is skilled, patiently explains everything, and adapts his session to the level of the student.

Barista workshop at home – For your Sage Barista Express
Barista workshop at home Sage Barista Express | Private coffee training at home
New to the Sage Barista Express, but still struggling to make consistent espressos or froth your milk beautifully? This private, in-home barista workshop will teach you step-by-step how to get the most out of your Barista Express. From setting the integrated grinder to finding the perfect recipe for your favorite coffee drink, you'll receive one-on-one guidance at home , fully tailored to your needs, questions, and coffee style. Trainer: Geertjandebaristaman, barista trainer and coffee coach with ten years of specialty coffee and workshop experience.
Why this workshop?
The Sage Barista Express is an all-in-one machine with an integrated conical bean grinder, 54mm portafilter, and a combination of fully automatic and manual functions that give you control from bean to cup.
In practice, it turns out that many users know the machine is powerful, but struggle with how to use it consistently: the correct grind size, dose, tamping, extraction time, and milk texture. This workshop bridges that gap—in your own kitchen, on your machine.
Trainer Geertjandebaristaman brings with him ten years of experience in specialty coffee and knows exactly what home baristas face.
What do you learn?
The session lasts approximately 2 hours , at your home, on your machine. The content is tailored to your starting level and your specific machine settings.
Theory
- Which flavor profile comes from which region, and how does that influence your bean choice?
- What does roasting, freshness, and grind size do to flavor and extraction?
- How does the Barista Express's integrated grinder work (grind settings, dose, static buildup)?
- Why is extraction temperature and pressure so important for a good espresso?
Practice (on your machine)
- Step by step: how to set the grinder, dose, tamp and start the extraction.
- What if the espresso brews too quickly or too slowly? Which parameters can you adjust (grind size, dose, extraction time)?
- Frothing milk: How do you get microfoam without large bubbles? How do you learn the correct pouring technique for cappuccino or latte art?
- Maintenance & Care: How do you keep your machine and grinder clean so you can consistently produce quality?
Who is this workshop for?
- For you if you have a Sage Barista Express at home or have just purchased one and really want to learn how to get the most out of it.
- For the home barista who wants to go from “nice” coffee to “great” coffee.
- For those who want to make cappuccinos, flat whites or latte art for friends, family or just for themselves — and want to know how to use the machine in practice.
- For couples or friends who want to take the workshop together — a fun experience with immediate results.
Why at home?
- You work with your own machine in your own kitchen—so exactly your situation, your beans, your jug. No generic machine, no standard insert.
- Personal one-on-one coaching from Geertjandebaristaman — tailored to your level, your questions, and your goals.
- You learn in your familiar environment; you're immediately familiar with your machine, and you don't have to travel.
- Afterwards you can immediately practice independently because you have learned on your setup .
