Sage Bambino workshop at home on your own coffee setup

A Sage Bambino home workshop is intended for home baristas who want to learn how to use their Sage Bambino or Bambino Plus better. Geert-Jan comes to your home and works with your own machine, separate coffee grinder, coffee beans, milk, and daily routine. This means you don't get a general demonstration, but an explanation that directly relates to what happens in your kitchen.

During the workshop, you will learn how fine or coarse to grind, how much ground coffee to use, how much espresso goes into the cup, and how to assess why a shot is too fast, too slow, sour, bitter, or watery. If you use milk, manual milk frothing, the automatic milk function of the Bambino Plus, and basic latte art can also be covered.

You choose between Barista Focusof approximately 90 minutes and Barista Masterof approximately 120 minutes. You will receive a personalized total price in advance via the request form for private barista workshops.

Your Bambino is ready fast, but good espresso doesn't happen by itself

The Bambino and Bambino Plus are compact and easy to operate, but the machine does not automatically select the right coffee beans, grind size or quantity. If the steps before and during brewing are not properly aligned, the result will vary.

  • Your espresso is always different

One espresso shot runs through in a few seconds, while the next one almost stalls. You don't know whether to adjust the coffee grinder, the amount of ground coffee, or the amount of espresso in the cup.

  • Your grinder and Bambino don't work as one system

The Bambino does not have a built-in grinder. Therefore, you need to learn how your separate grinder, coffee beans, portafilter, and machine work together to produce a repeatable result.

  • Milk becomes too airy, too thin, or too hot

With the Bambino, you have to learn to froth milk manually. With the Bambino Plus, you need to understand which automatic temperature and texture setting suits your milk and coffee drink.

What is a Sage Bambino home workshop?

This is a private barista training at your home, using your own Sage Bambino or Bambino Plus and a separate, working coffee grinder. Geert-Jan will help you understand how coffee beans, grind size, amount of ground coffee, amount of espresso, extraction time, and milk preparation influence each other. You can choose Barista Focus(approximately 90 minutes) or Barista Master(approximately 120 minutes).

Who is this workshop for?

For beginners and experienced home baristas with a Sage Bambino or Bambino Plus who want to make better espresso, cappuccino, or other milk-based drinks and need personalized feedback on their own equipment.

Key conditions

  • You own a working Sage Bambino or Bambino Plus.
  • You own a working separate coffee grinder.
  • The workshop primarily takes place at your home.
  • One to five participants are included in the same workshop price.
  • Focus lasts approximately 90 minutes and covers a maximum of two main topics.
  • Master lasts approximately 120 minutes and covers all three main topics.
  • The workshop is a training session, not a repair service.

The Bambino pressurizes the water, but you determine the coffee routine

The Sage Bambino and Bambino Plus heat up quickly and use a 54 mm portafilter, but these technical features do not solve incorrect grind size, incorrect coffee quantity, or unsuitable coffee beans. An espresso can run too fast because the coffee is ground too coarsely, but also because there is too little coffee in the filter basket or the coffee is not evenly distributed.

Therefore, we do not look at one button or a single trick. We build a fixed sequence: choosing beans, grinding, weighing, distributing, tamping, measuring espresso, tasting, and making targeted adjustments. For milk drinks, this includes the correct amount of air, temperature, texture, and pouring technique.

By practicing on your own equipment, you will immediately notice which actions you need to be able to perform again after the workshop.

You learn not how to replicate one perfect espresso, but to understand which step to adjust when the result changes.

This is how we build control with your Bambino

1. We will examine your machine, mill, and current working method

At the beginning, you discuss how long you've been using the Bambino, what kind of coffee you usually make, and what issues you're encountering. Geert-Jan examines the machine, separate coffee grinder, filter baskets, tamper, milk jug, and coffee beans. It also becomes clear whether you primarily need help with bean selection, espresso adjustment, milk frothing, or a combination thereof. For Barista Focus, you choose a maximum of two main components. For Barista Master, all three main components are covered. This ensures that the available time is not filled with general explanations, but with the steps relevant to your daily coffee routine.

2. You adjust coffee and espresso step by step

You will learn how the coffee bean, grind size, and amount used together determine how quickly the water flows through the coffee. Then you measure how much espresso ends up in the cup and how long that takes. If the espresso flows too fast, too slow, or tastes sour, bitter, or watery, you adjust one logical step at a time. You pull multiple shots, compare the results, and taste what changes. The goal is not for Geert-Jan to leave you with one setting, but for you to understand how to readjust when you use different coffee beans later.

3. You finish the routine with milk, maintenance, and repetition

Frequently asked questions about the Sage Bambino in-home workshop

Do I need a separate coffee grinder for a Sage Bambino workshop?

Yes. The Sage Bambino and Bambino Plus do not have an integrated coffee grinder. Therefore, for a workshop where espresso is being calibrated, a separate, working coffee grinder is needed to grind the coffee finer or coarser. Pre-ground coffee is not suitable, as the grind size cannot be adjusted during the workshop.

What is the difference between Barista Focus and Barista Master?

Barista Focustakes approximately 90 minutes. You choose a maximum of two main components: coffee beans and cleaning, espresso and grinder adjustment, or milk frothing and basic latte art. Barista Mastertakes approximately 120 minutes and covers all three main components. Focus is suitable for a specific query; Master is intended for the complete coffee routine.

Can I participate with other people?

We're here to make things easy for you! Your first step to getting the right size is checking out our size chart. It's got all the info you need to measure yourself and find your perfect fit. We also provide extra details on each product page, like the model's size and fit descriptions. If you're still not sure, our team is always happy to help. Just send us a message!

What do I need to prepare for the workshop?

Please have a working Bambino or Bambino Plus, a working standalone coffee grinder, a suitable tamper, a milk pitcher, cups, cleaning cloths, and preferably at least 250 grams of your own coffee beans. For frothing milk, at least one litre of chilled milk is required. Additionally, approximately two square metres of free workspace, a power outlet, and running water in the immediate vicinity are needed.

Where is the Sage Bambino workshop given?

The workshops are primarily held in the Central Netherlands, Utrecht, and surrounding areas of the Randstad. More distant locations are not automatically excluded. Each request is assessed based on travel distance, travel time, accessibility, and practical feasibility. You will always receive a personalized total price in advance.

I have another question...

Personalized help with espresso and milk on your Sage Bambino

The Sage the Bambino and Sage the Bambino Plus are compact semi-automatic espresso machines, but they don't make the key choices for the home barista. You still need to determine which coffee beans to use, how finely to grind them, how much ground coffee goes into the filter basket, and how much espresso you let flow into the cup. Since both Bambino models operate without an integrated coffee grinder, combining them with a suitable separate coffee grinder is even more important.

During the workshop, you will learn to assess this combination step by step. You won't just work towards one successful cup, but towards a fixed sequence that you can reuse later. If you first need a general overview, please view the main page about the private home barista workshop. If you have a different Sage model, go to personal espresso help for Sage coffee machines.

If you want to understand the basics independently first, start with the free introduction to Espresso Under Control. If your espresso especially keeps varying, the module The 3 Golden Rules of Espressodirectly addresses grind size, amount used, extraction time, and amount of espresso.
