What is better for latte cups: ceramic or porcelain?

As a coffee lover or home barista, you have probably noticed that not every coffee cup is the same. The choice of material plays a big role in how your coffee tastes, feels and presents itself.

Ceramic is by far the favorite for latte cups. It retains heat longer than porcelain and feels sturdier. This is important when pouring latte art: the milk stays at the right temperature for longer, giving you more time for precision. In addition, ceramic often feels heavier in the hand, which many people find more pleasant.

Porcelain, on the other hand, is lighter and thinner. It often looks more elegant, but loses heat faster and is more susceptible to breakage. That is why porcelain is more often used in espresso cups than in latte or cappuccino cups.

For daily use at home or in the office, a handmade ceramic latte cup is the most practical and stylish choice. Especially if you value sustainability, heat retention and that real barista experience.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a latte cup?

Choosing the right latte cup may seem simple, but once you know what to look for, you can really take your coffee moment to the next level.

A classic latte cup has a capacity of 250ml. That is large enough for a double espresso with frothed milk , but small enough to keep your latte warm. The material also plays a major role. Ceramic is a favorite among baristas: it retains heat well, feels nice in the hand and makes latte art look beautiful.

Also note the shape of the cup . A slightly tapered interior ensures that espresso and milk mix nicely. And although it seems like a small detail, it makes a difference in taste and presentation.

Finally, looks matter. Especially if you’re serving coffee at home or in the office, you want a cup that matches your style. Our handcrafted latte cup combines functionality with character — and you can feel it with every sip.
