Coffee Course in Amsterdam

Want to learn how to make coffee in Amsterdam without joining a group of strangers? Choose between a private barista training and a private latte art training at Maasstraat 84. You take the training alone, as a couple, or with your own group, so that Geert-Jan can tailor the explanation and practice time to your level, questions, and learning goals. If you want to work broadly on coffee, espresso, and milk, choose the barista training. If you primarily want to practice frothing milk, microfoam, and pouring, choose the latte art training.

Practice more at home after your workout

A training provides you with a practical foundation, but at home, the routine develops by repeatedly practicing the same steps on your own equipment. If you want to calmly revisit the explanations about coffee beans, freshness, extraction, and maintenance later, you can continue with Espresso Under Control. The short video modules with PDF summaries help you specifically return to the topic you are still practicing.

When choosing tools, first consider what you want to improve. A scale helps you measure dosage and espresso yield, a suitable tamper helps with even tamping, and a milk jug supports practicing milk texture and pouring. At barista tools for home baristasyou will find a selection of Barista Essentials. You can view the products at De Barista Shop; ordering, payment, and shipping are handled by Barista Essentials. This keeps the order logical: first understand what you want to improve, then determine which tool is suitable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Collapsible row

No. You book a private training for yourself or for your own group. You can come alone, with your partner, or for example with friends or family. No separate participants will be added to your training. This allows Geert-Jan to spend more time on your specific questions, technique, and learning goals. A private training here does not mean that you necessarily have to come alone; it mainly means that the reserved training slot is for you and the people you want to participate with.

The private barista trainingis the broad choice when you want to better understand how coffee beans, grind, dosage, espresso extraction, milk frothing, and basic latte art are interconnected. You will spend two hours working on multiple aspects of coffee making.

The private latte art trainingfocuses specifically on milk. You will practice frothing milk, recognizing microfoam, and controlled pouring. You can choose one or two hours for this. Neither training is a higher or lower step: primarily choose based on what you want to learn.

Collapsible row

No. The training courses are also suitable if you're just starting out. With the private barista training, you can learn from scratch to understand what coffee beans, grind, dosage, and extraction do to your espresso, and how milk frothing fits in. You don't need to be able to pour figures for the latte art training either. The learning process there starts with milk texture and microfoam before moving on to pouring technique. If you already have experience, Geert-Jan can focus the exercises and explanations more on the areas where you are still struggling.Geert-Jancan focus the exercises and explanations more on the areas where you are still struggling.

The private training sessions are intended for one to a maximum of five participants. So you can come alone, as a couple, or with your own small group. The main difference from an open workshop is that others cannot join the same training session individually. If you come with more than five people, we can first discuss which setup is practically suitable for the group and the desired training.

Collapsible row

Yes. A private coffee training can also be requested as a gift for, for example, a partner, friend, family member, or other coffee enthusiast. This is particularly interesting if you prefer to give a learning experience rather than a standalone coffee product. Please indicate in your request that the training is a gift, so that the practical arrangements can be adapted accordingly. For the private latte art training, a PDF gift voucher can also be created after coordination and payment.
