What is a coffee dispenser and why do I need one?
A coffee leveler , also known as an espresso leveler , helps to evenly distribute the ground coffee in the portafilter. This prevents channeling (uneven water flow) and ensures a consistent extraction , leading to better flavor and a creamier crema.
How do I use a coffee dispenser?
1️⃣ Grind your coffee and distribute it in the portafilter.
2️⃣ Place the coffee dispenser on top of the ground coffee.
3️⃣ Turn the divider 2-3 times with light pressure to evenly distribute the coffee.
4️⃣ Then use a tamper to press the coffee firmly.
💡 Tip: For best results, adjust the depth of the coffee spreader to the thickness of your coffee layer.
Is a coffee dispenser the same as a tamper?
No, a coffee leveler distributes the coffee evenly in the portafilter, while a tamper presses the coffee afterwards. Both tools complement each other perfectly and together ensure the best espresso extraction.
