The private barista workshop at home is led by Geert-Jan, an experienced barista and trainer with over 10 years of experience and SCA Intermediate certification.
Thanks to his extensive practical experience, he quickly identifies areas for improvement and tailors his advice directly to your espresso machine and coffee grinder.
Geert-Jan is a seasoned barista and coffee trainer with over 10 years of experience in specialty coffee . Over the years, he has given hundreds of workshops and training sessions to both individuals and professionals.
Geertjan is SCA Intermediate certified and works with a variety of espresso machines and bean grinders daily. This allows him to quickly identify any issues and know exactly what adjustments are needed to achieve better resultsβtailored to your equipment.

1. Short theory β better understanding what you buy, taste and prepare
We start with a concise explanation that will help you make better choices about coffee beans and settings.
You will learn, among other things:

Na aanschaf van een espresso apparaat op zoek gegaan naar iemand die ons kon helpen het apparaat beter te leren kennen. Vrij snel bij Geert-Jan en de Barista shop uitgekomen en een afspraak ingepland. De communicatie verliep fijn en het was makkelijk een afspraak te maken. Geert-Jan heeft rustig de tijd voor ons genomen om een stukje theorie uit te leggen. Hij heeft ons geholpen beter ons apparaat te begrijpen om een lekkere koffie te zetten. Het was een heel fijne sfeer en Geert-Jan heeft de workshop heel leuk verzorgd. Zeker een aanrader.

En de koffie smaakt gelijk zo veel beter. Hij raakte kort de noodzakelijke kern van de theorie en had daarna ruim de tijd om met ons te oefenen. Deze workshop aan huis kunnen wij echt iedereen die koffie zetten serieus wilt nemen aanraden; je haalt zoveel meer uit je eigen apparatuur ! Geweldig. Tot slot: fijn dat je gelijk nog wat extra tools bij hem kunt kopen - gewoon tegen een eerlijke prijs ook. Na afloop nog een naslagwerk gekregen om op terug te kunnen vallen. In mijn eigen vertrouwde omgeving zoveel geleerd β van het perfect opschuimen van melk tot het schenken van een mooi hartje (wat nog best een uitdaging is π). Geert-Jan legde alles op een fijne, rustige manier uit en gaf tips waar ik echt mee verder kan.
De sfeer was ontspannen, gezellig en vooral heel leerzaam. Ik had nooit gedacht dat er zΓ³veel achter een goede kop koffie zit!

Wat een geweldige ervaring met Geert Jan, de barista man! De workshop was niet alleen leuk, maar ook ontzettend leerzaam. We hebben eindelijk geleerd hoe we onze Sage espressomachine goed moeten bedienen, en dat maakt echt een wereld van verschil.

Do I need a separate coffee grinder for this workshop?
Not necessarily. We'll work with what you already have. Do you have a built-in grinder or a separate one? That's fine. Do you make coffee with pre-ground beans? Then we'll figure out how to get the most out of them. It is recommended to use a bean grinder to get your espresso extraction right.
Can I also learn how to froth milk and make basic latte art?
Definitely. During the workshop you will learn how to froth milk with the right temperature and structure β without big bubbles, just as it should be for cappuccinos and latte art. If you are interested, we will also practice pouring and you will get tips for your first heart or rosette.
How long does the home workshop last?
The workshop lasts an hour and a half. That's enough time to work together on your focus point, whether that's making espresso and adjusting the coffee grinder, frothing milk, or a specific point of interest, without it becoming overwhelming.
