Why a Good Cup is Essential for Practicing Latte Art

Practicing latte art requires repetition, control and... the right tools. Many beginners start with random coffee cups, but soon run into problems: milk doesn't foam nicely, the design runs out, or the coffee cools down too quickly.

This 250ml latte cup is made of thick ceramic and has a slight tulip shape โ€” just what you need for pouring microfoam properly. The wide opening gives you room to practice, while the sturdy rim ensures your pour line stays straight.

Use it with a manual milk frother or steam wand and you'll notice the difference. If you're serious about your latte art skills, it starts with the right cup.

Tips for Practicing Latte Art at Home

Start with whole milk โ€” it froths easier and gives a nice shiny microfoam. Always use fresh espresso and make sure your cup is preheated. The first movement in pouring is essential: start high, then lower as soon as you see foam.

A good latte art cup makes all the difference. Choose a 250ml capacity, with round walls and a stable base, like this handmade model. This way you will learn faster, without mistakes and with pleasure.

Practice simple shapes like a heart first, and work your way up to more complex shapes. Remember: every attempt is a step forward. And with this cup in your hand, you'll soon feel like a real barista.
