Barista Essentials filter baskets fit according to the manufacturer
Place the tamper on top of the station.
Your filter holder moves during tamping
You have ground and distributed your coffee. Now you want to press the coffee down level. But a filter holder does not always stand firmly on the work surface. You notice this especially when tamping.
The filter holder tilts
With a spout under your filter holder, the bottom does not touch the worktop everywhere. It can tilt away when you apply pressure.
Little space next to the machine
On a small counter, the tamper, portafilter, and other items quickly get jumbled together. That creates a sense of disorganization during your preparation.
Metal against the countertop
If you tamp directly on the worktop, a hard edge or protrusion comes into contact with the surface. You’d prefer to avoid that.
Give your portafilter a permanent resting place
The black tamping station from Barista Essentials supports a suitable portafilter while you tamp down the ground coffee. The folded steel construction and silicone non-slip base keep the station in place.
Who is this useful for?
For home baristas with a suitable filter holder who want to tamp straight on a stable surface next to their espresso machine.
What do you get?
You receive one black steel tamping station with a silicone non-slip base. It measures 15 × 11 × 6.7 cm and has space on top for a tamper. The portafilter and tamper are sold separately.
Why this station on your desk?
You support the filter holder in the recess and keep your tamper within reach. The silicone mat is removable for cleaning. If you want to wipe away loose coffee grounds immediately, use a barista cloth for your filter holder.
The fit is more important than the diameter alone: original Sage and De'Longhi filter holders often have too little clearance under the spout.
Measure the clearance under your filter holder before you choose.
Does your filter holder fit securely in the portafilter holder? Then you can prepare and tamp the coffee at your leisure, and afterwards place the clean filter holder into your espresso machine.
Place the station on a flat, dry work surface. Insert your empty filter holder into the recess and check that it rests securely without tipping.
Fill and distribute the coffee
Put your usual amount of ground coffee into the filter basket and level the grounds evenly. Then place the filled filter holder back onto the support.
Tap straight and clean out

Frequently asked questions about the black tamping station
Will my original Sage or De'Longhi filter basket fit in it?
On many original Sage and De'Longhi filter holders, the spout is too close to the bottom of the filter holder. As a result, they cannot rest straight in this station. View the fit information for Barista Essentials and compare the shape of your own filter holder.
Can I use a naked portafilter?
Barista Essentials states that its own portafilters, including the bottomless versions, fit this machine. If you use a different brand, check that the portafilter rests in the recess without tilting.
What is the difference with a flat tamper mat?
We're here to help you get the most out of your water sports adventures. Below, you'll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
How do I clean the tamping station?
Remove the silicone top cover from the station and wipe away coffee residue with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the parts to dry before replacing them.
Does my tamper need to be the same size as the portafilter?
No. The diameter of your tamper must fit the filter basket in your portafilter, not the tamping station. Measure or check the size of your filter basket before choosing a tamper.
Black tamping station: firmly press down a portafilter
A black tamping station gives your portafilter a fixed place during the tamping of ground coffee. This model from Barista Essentials is made of folded steel with silicone non-slip and measures 15 × 11 × 6.7 cm. You can place your tamper on top.
The most important thing is the fit of your filter holder. Barista Essentials filter holders are suitable, but original Sage and De'Longhi versions often have too little space under the spout. Therefore, check carefully how your filter holder rests on the support.
Calmly tamp with firm support
