What are we going to do?

Whether you have an ECM, Rancilio, QuickMill or another espresso machine for your home, the basis of making good coffee remains the same: hot water is pressed through ground coffee. With the right knowledge of this process, you will learn to make cappuccinos or black coffee of real quality.

Although each barista workshop is adapted to the needs of the participant, we always see a certain structure

Theory:

  • where does coffee come from?
  • Which flavour profiles grow in which countries?
  • How is coffee harvested?
  • What does roasting coffee do to its taste?
  • What tips can I use to buy coffee beans that suit my taste?

Practice:

  • How do I make a good espresso?
  • What happens if the espresso does not come out of the machine properly?
  • Which parameters help me to make consistently good espresso?
  • Which milk froths best?
  • How do I froth milk without many or no bubbles at all?
  • How do I pour the milk to make latte art?

This basic knowledge is tackled during the barista workshop at home. Nice and practical, nice coffee!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this workshop suitable if I have just purchased an espresso machine?

Yes, definitely. Especially when you are just starting out, a workshop is valuable. You will learn directly how to use your machine properly, so that you can achieve results faster and make coffee with more confidence. But even if you have had an espresso machine for a while, a training can be surprisingly educational. I regularly meet coffee lovers who have been making coffee for years, but still notice that there is more to get out of their machine. With a few practical tips, your coffee will suddenly taste really good again.

Do I need a separate coffee grinder for this workshop?

Not necessarily. We work with what you already have. Do you have a built-in grinder or a separate one? Fine. Do you make coffee with pre-ground beans? Then we will look at how you can get the most out of it. Do you not have a grinder yet, but are you thinking about buying one? Then I will give you honest and brand-independent advice during the workshop β€” tailored to your situation and budget.

Will the workshop be tailored to my level and equipment?

Yes, always. Whether you are just starting to make coffee or have been making espresso for years, the workshop is tailored to your needs. We work with your own machine and grinder, at your own pace. No standard story, but advice and explanation that fit your experience, your questions and your coffee goals.

Can I also learn how to froth milk and make basic latte art?

Definitely. During the workshop you will learn how to froth milk with the right temperature and structure β€” without big bubbles, just as it should be for cappuccinos and latte art. If you are interested, we will also practice pouring and you will get tips for your first heart or rosette.

Do we also discuss choosing the right coffee beans?

Yes. We discuss which flavor profiles exist, which type of beans match them, how to recognize what is on a package and what to look for when buying tasty and fresh beans. Whether you use filter, single origin or a blend β€” you will receive honest, brand-independent advice that suits your machine and your taste.

How long does the home workshop last?

The workshop generally lasts 120 minutes. That’s long enough to work together on espresso, grind, milk and all your questions, without it becoming too much. Of course, we’ll adjust the pace and format to your experience and interests β€” it’s your time.

Is the workshop intended for one person or can I participate with someone else?

You can easily follow the workshop together. Whether you come with your partner, colleague or friend β€” I make sure that everyone actively participates and learns at his or her level. When booking, let me know how many people you are with, then I will adjust the set-up and the quote accordingly.

Will I also receive a summary or advice by email afterwards?

Yes. After the workshop you will receive a short summary with the most important tips and advice that we discussed. This way you can read everything back at home and immediately continue practicing with what you have learned.

Until when can I cancel or reschedule a workshop?

You can reschedule a workshop up to 48 hours in advance free of charge after payment. In case of cancellation within 24 hours, the costs will unfortunately be charged in full. Rescheduling is always possible in consultation - I am happy to think along with you if something comes up.

How does payment for the workshop work?

If you are curious and contact me, you will receive all the information about the workshop, available times and a customized quote. This quote is based on the address where the workshop is given. After approval, you will receive an invoice, which must be credited to the account number stated on the invoice no later than one week before the planned date. As soon as everything has been arranged, I will make sure that I am present at the agreed address on time. Are you unexpectedly ill or does something come up? No worries β€” we will simply schedule a new date.

Do I need to prepare anything before you come over?

Not much. Make sure your espresso machine, coffee grinder (if you have one) and possibly milk and beans are ready. It would be nice if we could get started right away during the workshop. Do you have specific questions or things you run into? Then you can write them down in advance β€” then I will definitely take them with me.
